Aspire is a dream of mine cultivated over many years. You could say it started as a kid when my mom, grandmom and I would spend hours (sometimes days!) at a time shopping and enjoying each other's company. Our day would begin at the King of Prussia Mall outside Philadelphia or at local boutiques in the Philly area, continue through lunch, and invariably end with ice cream. We would come home exhausted and happy with our purchases, sometimes only after my dad would call wondering where we were.
After teaching secondary English for fourteen years, seven of them at Urbana High School in Ijamsville, I knew it was time to follow my dream. No other place but downtown Frederick would do as the realization of this dream, and Everedy square on East Street had everything that would have made one my shopping days with my mom and grandmom perfect: great stores, lunch out, and ice-cream to end our day.
The name Aspire is a play on words highlighting the fabled spires of Frederick. Of course, being an English teacher, it is more than that. The definition of Aspire is "to have great desire or ambition." My great desire and ambition is beautiful clothes that women can enjoy, but also to provide that environment my mother, grandmother, and I would enjoy together. The fashions I choose span a variety of ages from the twenty-something on up. We offer a wide selection of style, size, and price point. My good friend, Holly Kristen of UDHK designs on East Street, was able to sum up all of this with the tagline, "A Woman's Ultimate Clothing Desire" Now you know the many levels of meaning behind the name and tagline of the store!
